What makes porcelain different from the tile at the box store
Porcelain gets fired at a higher temperature from a denser clay body than standard ceramic, which is why it ends up under half a percent porous - practically waterproof - and harder than standard ceramic tile. Best Budget Flooring & Remodeling installs it in homes and businesses across Tyler, and it's what we put down in our own houses when we're not on a jobsite.
Current porcelain lines run from wood-look planks to marble-look and concrete-look tile, so you can get the look you want without taking on the upkeep that comes with the real material. Stop by our Flint showroom and walk the samples yourself, or read our tile flooring overview if you're weighing porcelain against other tile types entirely.

Where porcelain is the safe bet
Porcelain is about as low-risk a flooring choice as exists for wet rooms, high-traffic areas, and anything exposed to sun or temperature swings - which East Texas has plenty of between our humid summers and the occasional hard freeze.
- Wood-look porcelain planks - the look of hardwood with none of the water risk
- Large-format tile (12x24) - fewer grout lines and a cleaner, more open feel
- Patios and pool decks - freeze-thaw rated with slip-resistant finishes on request
- Commercial spaces - rated for the abrasion levels retail and restaurant floors demand

Learn moreWhy installation quality matters more with porcelain
Porcelain doesn't forgive an uneven subfloor - large-format and plank shapes will show even an eighth-inch dip once they're set. We check the floor before we start and use leveling clips on every install.
Every install carries our one-year installation warranty, and if you want to see everything else we install, our services page lays it all out.

Porcelain Tile - frequently asked questions
For floors and wet areas, yes - it's denser, less porous, and harder, and the price difference over ceramic is small enough that most Tyler homeowners just go with porcelain from the start.
The better lines get remarkably close, especially in wider planks with real embossed texture. You can see finishes from similar Tyler projects in our recent reviews.
